Lewthwaite's Game
The Board
Lewthwaite's game is played on a board containing 25 intersection points.
The Pieces
The first player controls 12 white pieces, and the second player controls 12 black pieces. The pieces are arranged in an alternating pattern at the start of the game, with the center point left empty, as shown in the following image:
Rules
To move: Pieces move horizontally or vertically, but not diagonally. At all times there will be one unoccupied point on the board. On your turn, move one of your pieces that is orthogonally adjacent to the unoccupied point to the unoccupied point.
To win: Trap your opponent's pieces, i.e., leave your opponent with no legal moves by letting the unoccupied point only be orthogonally adjacent to your pieces.
