The Board
Y is played on a triangular board tiled with hexagonal spaces.
The Pieces
The first player places stones of one color and the second player places stones of another color.
Rules
To move: Place one of your stones on an empty space on the board. You may not place your stone on a space already containing another stone.
To win: Connect the three sides of the board with your stones. Placing a stone on a corner space counts as connecting two sides.
In the following example, the player placing blue stones has connected all three sides of the board.
Variants
- Sidelength: The board can have any sidelength N where N is the number of hexagons on the side of the triangular board.
